Piecewise Linear Diode
Description
Piecewise Linear Diode
This diode model is composed of:
- A nonlinear resistor characterized by a Voltage-Current data matrix, which models the diode's forward characteristics.
- A nonlinear capacitor characterized by a Capacitance-Voltage data matrix.
Performance Consideration
For computational efficiency, it's advised to limit the forward characteristics matrix to no more than 20 data points. Exceeding this could introduce discontinuities. If the voltage falls outside the data range, extrapolation is performed using the nearest segments.
Modeling the Blocked State
To accurately model the diode's blocked state resistance, include at least one data point at a negative voltage in the forward characteristics matrix. In most cases, modeling the diode's avalanche breakdown is not necessary.
Capacitance Options
A single, constant capacitance value may also be used to model the diode's capacitance linearly, as an alternative to using a matrix.
Beta Status
Please note that the Piecewise Linear Diode model is currently in Beta and is not recommended for use in production environments. We are actively working to validate and improve the model.
